Khanqah Qadiriya Razviya - Pietermaritzburg

The establishment of the Sunni Razvi Centre, the first ever, in the heart of the populous area of Raisenthorpe in Pietermarizburg is similar to a fairytale. Critics and detractors ruled it as a ‘Mission Impossible’ because of the enormity of the project and the underestimation of the lone individual behind the project. The official opening of the center on the 26th/27th of November 1988 when the center Commemorated the Urs of Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Qadiri (may Allah be pleased with him). The center is situated on a very high point has panoramic views of the City and consist of a Mosque, Khanqah, madrassa, Hafiz classes, ladies section and quarters for the resident Alim to be brought from abroad. In addition there is a guesthouse for local and overseas Ulama. Among the dignitaries that have visited the center is Prof. Munib-ur-Rahman of Karachi, Hazrat Maulana Muhammed Ayoob Qadiri Razvi, Hazrat Allama Mufti Ghulam Sawar of Lahore, Mufti Muhammad Husain al-Qadiri of Sakkar, Hazrat Sayed Ali Raza Chishti of Ajmer, Hazrat Abdul Hameed Sarwari Qadiri of Kulach Pakistan and many other dignitaries (may Allah be pleased with them).

To move ahead a community should draw its inspiration from these worthy sons of Islam. Thanks to the wisdom and perception of His Eminence who is a distinguished poet, writer, orator, social worker and preacher, mysticism was spread in South Africa. All the disciples around the world falling under his umbrella do sing praises to Almighty Allah, His beloved Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha (Allah bless him and give him peace), the Polestar of Saints, Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Kwaja Moinudeen Chishti of Ajmer, the Ahle-Bayt, the Martyrs of Karbala, poets and Sufis of Islam such as Jami, Hazrat Maulana Rumi (may Allah be pleased with him), Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (may Allah be pleased with him), Allama Muhammad Iqbal and numerous others.

From the time His Eminence landed in South Africa in 1968 Muslims have benefited spiritually and the programs introduced by him throughout the country are still continuing today, some 32 years on, and will continue in the future. May Almighty Allah reward His Eminence with a limitless reward for the self-sacrifice he has made in preaching the word of Allah as brought down by the noble personalities of Islam, not only in South Africa but also throughout the world.
