Memorable Meetings - Feb/March 1995

A cake from the dish

On a Monday afternoon, after a meditation session (zikr), the writer had the privilege of sitting near His Eminence. During iftaar, His Eminence took a cake from his dish and handed it over to Haji Ramtoola. Suddenly it reminded him of an event, which occurred in 1965 at a bungalow at Point-Aux-Sables which flashed into his mind. His Eminence had handed over a morsel of food from his dish to Haji Ramtoola and, scarcely had he, in the depth of his heart, caressed the wish of having something out of the same dish, when his desire was fulfilled. Here too, some 30 years later, the same thing happened. He desired a cake from His Eminence’s dish and a cake was offered to him.

Shajara Sheet

As early as 1965, I was thinking that it would be in the interest of the followers and well-wishers of Hazrat Maulana Khushtar if a special sheet could be printed wherein would be given the following information in chronological order:

Name, death anniversary with date, month and year, and place of Holy Shrine of the beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Saints of the Silsila Alia Qadiria Razvia Hamidia Mustafavia Ibrahimia.

Needless to say, Hazrat Maulana Khushtar assigned the work to your humble servant, alhamdullilah, the worthy sheet saw the day in 1965 itself. Some time after the Shajara was prepared; I started thinking of another sheet, which would give the same information as above but on a month-to-month basis. This would facilitate disciple to make prayers on those specific dates for the conveyance of rewards to the departed soul of the Maashaikh (isaale sawaab). By the grace of Almighty Allah, such information has been published in the Sunni Razvi magazine in South Africa. Without having disclosed my intention to anybody, I was planning in February 1995 to combine the information contained in both paragraphs above into a single sheet, when His Eminence asked me to do just that piece of work. An on 8 March 1995, the special Shajara sheet was printed.

Oh fountain of Light!

An acrostic on KHUSHTAR (please see below) was written by this worthless beggar in 1969. By the grace of Almighty Allah, the acrostic was already been printed in South Africa and in Mauritius. Quite often, I was thinking that if an opportunity to chant that acrostic were given to me, it would certainly help stir the love of the followers and well-wishers for Hazrat Maulana Khsuhtar and, at the same time, increase their love for Almighty Allah and His beloved Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). Without my having ever spoken of the matter to His Eminence, when he invited me to chant that same acrostic on the auspicious occasion of his birthday anniversary.

Kingly is thy nature, oh my spiritual guide,

Heartening thy message, oh spiritual stalwart!

Under the sun broiling of the rain pelting,

South or north, west or east,

Heartily will I for thee search oh Fountain of Light!

Their congratulations will detract me not, from the path chosen,

And their language vile will I to hell send;

Rolling if needs be, will I to thy feet come.

17-year old car and cemetery

A week before Hazrat Maulana Khushtar had to leave Mauritius, my 17 year old car showed some signs of uneasiness for not having been blessed with the opportunity of conveying His Eminence to some place, especially to a cemetery. Brother Hashim had organized a small reception at his humble abode and had solicited my help. I was overjoyed for the 17-year-old car would be used to convey His Eminence. On the appointed day, we all got into the car. Some minutes after I had started the engine, His Eminence signaled me to proceed to Riche Terre Cemetery.
