Memorable Meetings

24th September at brother Hassims place after Fajr prayer

Medicine and moderate exercise

Before breakfast, brother Hassin handed over a book entitled "As-Sayuti’s Medicine of the Prophet" to Hazrat Maulana Khushtar. He turned over a few pages and then declared that, for him, some regular walks after Fajr prayer would be an effective means of preserving good health. I requested him to grant me the privilege of driving him to Pleasure Ground Garden for that purpose. I was also on the point of proposing the seaside when he intervened and said that whenever he goes to South Africa he usually has the opportunity to walk by the seaside.

Not to loose hope

Corruption today, is rampant in almost all fields, including trade and commerce. What is ironical is that while the value of all goods and commodities is rising, that of man is dwindling day after day and is becoming more and more difficult for men of faith to live in this world. Nevertheless, His Eminence added that we should not loose hope for our life is not in danger and we are not made to live without food and shelter contrary to those of the past. He cited the exemplary case of Hazrat Ali (RA) who is the hope of the desperate and the destitute and the light of the mystics. Hazrat Ali (RA) had to face many problems to the extent that he was even assassinated, but he did not, at any time, grumble and begrudge.

Love of Amir Khusrau for his master

Amir Khusrau was the disciple of and devotee of Nizamuddeen Auliya (RA). Because of his pure and profound love for his master, he did not have the strength of character to sit before him for long. Hazrat Maulana Khushtar related that when Nizamudden Auliya (RA) breathed his last and was being conveyed to the cemetery, Amir Khusrau in a state of deep ecstasy, started sprinkling dust upon him.

25th September 1995 – 1413th Monday weekly Halqa Zikr

Earth into diamond

Hazrat Maulana Khushtar started by thanking Almighty Allah by whose grace we were assembled with the lofty aim of remembering Him, His beloved Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace), Shaikh Sayyiduna Abdul Qadir Jilani, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan and other spiritual stalwarts [may Allah be pleased with them].

We should not forget that the beloved Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) was stoned when he was preaching Islam, but he was adamant. He continued to propagate the message of Truth with zeal. On our part, we should acknowledge that our problem is but minor. Some people backbite us; others cast aspersions on our character and others try to create division in our society. In spite of all that we should, with much conviction, continue to walk on the Right Path, relying, at the same time, on our Masters of Reality who, if they so wish, can turn the earth into a diamond.

In conclusion, His Eminence made an appeal so that we contribute generously for the projected construction of the Zikr Manzil at the Sunni Razvi EidGah.

29th September at the Qadiri Razvi Central Mosque – 527th Jummah prayers

Satisfaction and Peace

For the Jummah prayers, we are in attendance at the EidGah Mosque. We also come here for other religious functions such as Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (Allah bless him and give him peace) and Urs Ghaus-ul-Azam (may Allah be pleased with him), etc. All these are fine, said Hazrat Maulana Khushtar, but we should also be in attendance for the compulsory prayers.

Where there is a question of attendance, there is also the question of duties to be performed. The housewife at home, the student at college, the worker at his workplace, the clerk in his office, nay all have certain specific responsibilities to fulfill. If they fail there in, their attendance is null and void stated His Eminence.

If we shoulder our responsibilities well, we make good use of our attendance and, we will therefore gain satisfaction and peace. It is an irony, pointed Hazrat Maulana Khushtar, that countries which are making progress in the scientific, technological, and economic fields are countries where, unfortunately, satisfaction and peace are almost absent. On the other hand, people who in the past were living in huts and were leading ordinary lives were satisfied and peaceful. The reason is simple; they were performing the day-to-day duties with honesty and were consistent in their prayers and meditation.

Nowadays, alas! Parents do not care to know the source of their children’s income. Once they see money in their pockets, they think that it is all-correct. The question of right or wrong is not their concern. His Eminence also made an appeal so that we listen with all due care and attention to the call for prayer and we take firm resolution to be regular in our compulsory daily prayers. Afterwards, we may perform as many supererogatory prayers as we desire. Of course, we should not forget out our other duties. We would thus be following the path of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani, Kwaja Moinuddeen Chishti and Imam Ahmed Raza Khan [may Allah be pleased with them]. Then and then only shall satisfaction and peace be ours, concluded His Eminence.
