Tribute to Maulana Ayub Razvi

A great contribution to the success of the Sunni Razvi Society was by the late Maulana Ayub Razvi (may Allah be pleased with him) , the sympathetic brother of His Eminence and Director of the organization who managed the daily affairs of the Society very professionally in a way that commands admiration and respect.

The path of Truth was his way and frankness his nature

Among friends he looked like a ‘majzoob’

What a coincidence of history O Khushtar!

The date of Ayubs departure corroborates with his name "Ayub" (19)

Maulana Hafiz Qari Muhammmad Ayub Qadiri Razvi (ra) was born in Jamalpur in the district of Munghir in the Province of Bilhar, India, in 1934 (1355 Hijri). The same year, his noble respected father Muhammad Siddiqui passed away. His paternal grandmother and mother carefully nurtured and groomed him. At the age of 10 years on the 28th Shawwal 1365 he commenced Hafizul Quran and at an early age he accompanied his brother Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim Khushtar to Bareilly Shareef. There he continued with Hafiz and was honored with being initiated as the disciple (mureed) of Huzoor Mufti Azam Hind Maulana Mustafa Raza Khan (may Allah be pleased with him). At this tender age he was honored to serve (Khidmat) and achieve the companionship (sobhat) of great scholars and spiritual mentors such as Mufti Azam Hind Maulana Mustafa Raza Khan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hakim Muhammad Hussain Raza Khan, the brother of Alahazrat.

He was also favored with honor of visiting and being of service to the Lion of the Ahle Sunnat, Maulana Hashmit Ali Khan (may Allah be pleased with him) as well as Maulana Wajahadudeen (may Allah be pleased with him). In the company of service of such illuminated dignitaries his heart became intoxicated and embellished with the profound love for Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (may Allah be pleased with him), so much so that he was blessed with Khilafat when he was only 20 years old from Hazrat Mufi-e-Azam Hind (may Allah be pleased with him). The influence of the great Master Alahazrat reflected in every aspect pf his life, in private as well as public, whether on a journey, talking or conveying a message and any action or prayer, making him a worthy recipient of this love and contact.

In 1962 Maulana Ayub Razvi went to Chatgam, East Pakistan and under the guidance of Maulana Waqaruddin started to propagate the true essence of Islam. Then he once again accompanied his noble brother to Jaamia Razvia Mazhare Islam, the madrassa of Muhaddis-e-Azam Pakistan, Lailpur, Pakistan. There under the guidance of Maulana Sardar Ahmad (may Allah be pleased with him) he remained in Jamia Razvia Mazhare Islam. He completed his Hafiz on Friday 22nd Shabaan 1377 and was bestowed the 'Dastare Fazilat' (Turban of Honor) on this Jummah day. He also imitated grand processions for the Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (Allah bless him and give him peace) in Chatgam that it went down in the history of the Ahle Sunnat as the most remarkable and most memorable event in Pakistan. He had the benefit of acquiring the skills of Tajweed and Qiraat under Maulana Qari Ghulam Rasool (may Allah be pleased with him) at Jamia Naeemia in Lahore. Thereafter he served in the field of Imamat, oration, administration, Khitaabat and teaching at Madrassa Azharul Uloom in Walton and later Montgomery, Lahore until 1968. He was then at that time 33 years old and completed the first half of his life, serving the noble cause of Islam.

The stay of Maulana Ayub in various Masdrassa`s and his association with great Saints had provided him with a strong religious knowledge base. Khilafat from Mufi-e-Azam and companionship of eminent scholars had given him a strong spiritual lineage and put him strongly on the track of Maslak-e-Al'la. His practical experience as teacher, Imam, Khateeb and organizer of major events made him a specialist in his field. So much so that when he arrived in Mauritius in 1968 as deputy and Khateeb (his brother, Maulana Ibrahim Khushtar had preceded him as Imam and Khateeb in 1965) of the Jummah Mosque, he was fully experienced on both spiritual and religious fronts.

He was a versatile teacher having as main objective the propagation of true message of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat as prescribed by the teachings of the great genius, the reformer of Islam, Alahazrat Imam Ahmad Raza khan (may Allah be pleased with him). He also went on numerous religious tours in most of the countries where His Eminence is active. It should be mentioned here that Maulana Ayub, from childhood to his last days, shaped his life according to the advice of His Eminence and followed him like his shadow to Bareilly, Bangladesh, Lailpur, Lahore and finally Mauritius.
